Year 4

Welcome to Year 4

Who are we?

Our names are Mrs Wright (Monday-Thursday) and Miss Hines (Friday) and we are the Year Four teachers.  Mrs Yould is our teaching assistant and will be working with individuals and groups of children throughout the year.

Reading!

In Year 4 we love to read! We start each day with a reading session, where we build and deepen our understanding of different content domains. Reading with your child as often as possible is very beneficial. Your child will have an opportunity to change their books in schools, linked to their reading level. When children have read each day, and it has been signed in their reading record, they will move up our reading rocket. If they are at the top of the rocket (they have read five times or more) they will earn a raffle ticket for our prize draw in our Celebration assembly and will be allowed a special Friday treat. Reading records will be checked daily.

Times tables

In Year 4 we are becoming more and more confident at recalling our times tables. We practice weekly in class to make sure we can recall them quickly and accurately ready for our Multiplication test at the end of the year. It’s really important we practice them regularly at home too using our Times Table Rockstars app to help us! You might even win the Rockstar of the Week award or to gain a new Rockstar status!

P.E.

The children will be doing PE on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. For health and safety reasons, your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. Due to weather, PE lessons may be indoors or outdoors and this can change regularly. Please ensure children have appropriate clothing for both, including trainers.
