FS 2

Welcome to Foundation Stage!
Here is you where can find everything that you need to know about Foundation Stage and have a look at what we have been learning.

Who are we?
Our Foundation Stage Teacher is Miss Hines, and our teaching assistant is Mrs Land.

P.E.
Our PE session is on a Thursday afternoon beginning after October half term. On this day your child can come to school in a PE kit and trainers.
For health and safety reasons your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings.

Reading
Please spend time reading with your child every day. Our Phonics program that we follow in school is Read, Write, Inc.
We love to read and spend time reading to and listening to your children read in school every day. Your child’s Read, Write, Inc. reading book is specifically linked to the phonics that they are currently learning in school. Please make sure that they bring their reading book and reading record to school each day so we can read with them.
On a Friday, your child’s library book will be changed. These are books to promote a love of reading, which have an age-appropriate content, but will need reading to your child. Once your child has learnt enough new sounds during phonics, they will bring home a Read, Write Inc. phonics reading book that we have shared with them in school every Friday. These will be changed every Friday so please ensure they are in school on this day.

Everyday
Each day your child needs to bring; a water bottle full of water only, a bag with some spare clothes in for just in case, and finally, sun hats, sun cream or hats and gloves and warm coats depending on the weather.

If you have any questions about anything at all, then please do not hesitate to ask any of the Foundation Stage staff, who are more than happy to help on any matter big or small!

Stick Man…

Reception class created their own stickman family and helped them find their family tree today as the explored the outdoor area. They then snuggled up inside to hear Miss Hines read the story of the Stick Man.

Minus temperatures…

‘We didn’t mind the snow and ice, we loved exploring the ice and trying to make it melt!’ Reception class loved exploring the outdoors in the minus temperatures.

Our values award

This week, our values award goes to a boy who is always showing teachers and peers what a role model he is. He is always showing the school values and working so hard in class. Our stars of the week are also children who have been impressing staff in school for so many reasons. Well done to everyone!

Maths workshop

An amazing number of parents and carers have joined our Maths workshop in @RsjbStage to learn all about using Number Bots at home to support children’s learning. Thank you Miss Hines for all the excellent Reception Class workshops.

Diva lamps

This week Reception Ckass have been spending time creating diva lamps. They loved being able to “light” them and sit and listen to our end of the day story holding them.

Our buddy system

Our buddy system is a huge part of helping children to settle in at school and providing those positive role models around school. Today, Year Six read their favourite stories to their buddies which was a delight. A huge thank you to Year Six for taking great care of our youngest pupils.

Elmer workshop…

Our parents and carers in Foundation Stage joined us for a workshop linked to the Elmer book. The children shared their vocabulary routines and listened to the story. They then created a wonderful picture of Elmer to keep. Thank you to everyone who attended we had a great afternoon.
