Read MoreWelcome to Year 3
My name is Mrs Butters, and I am the Year Three teacher. We are lucky to have Mr Hague and Mrs Hague asour teaching assistants, who will be working with individuals and groups of children throughout the year.
Reading!
In Year Three we love to read! We start each day with a reading session, where we build and deepen our understanding of different texts and extend our skills. Reading with your child as often as possible is very beneficial. Your child will have the opportunity to change their books in school whenever they finish a book and bring in their signed reading records.
P.E.
Our class have PE on Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. For health and safety reasons, your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. Due to weather, PE lessons may be indoors or outdoors and this can change regularly. Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing for both, including trainers.
Homework
Each Monday, the weekly spelling patterns that are set out on the half-term spelling list will be tested in class and scores will be sent home that week. We will also test times table knowledge each week and the scores for this test, along with times table to learn for the next week will be included on the same slip as spelling scores.
There is also an expectation that children read daily and practice their times tables on a daily basis. To facilitate this each child has access to Times Table Rock Stars via their own unique login.
In the wider curriculum, your child will be provided with a knowledge organiser for each unit of our Learning Journey. This gives children all of the essential knowledge they must have to deepen their understanding in school.
