Welcome to Year 3
Who are we?
My name is Mr Crookes and I am the Year Three teacher. Mrs Bailey is our teaching assistant and will be working with individuals and groups of children throughout the year.
In Year Three we love to read! We start each daily with a reading session, where we build and deepen our understanding of different content domains. Reading with your child are often as possible is very beneficial. Your child will have opportunity to change their books in schools each day when they bring their reading records.
The children will be doing PE on a Tuesday morning and on Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. For health and safety reasons, your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. Due to weather, PE lessons may be indoors or outdoors and this can change regularly. Please ensure children have appropriate clothing for both, including trainers. Due to the current climate, we will try to do PE outside as much as possible – even during the winter.
Homework is set every Monday. This will include our weekly spelling patterns and words that the children will then be tested on the following week. There is also an expectation that children read daily and practice their times tables on a daily basis, where each child has access to Times Table Rock Stars and Read Theory. In the wider curriculum, your child will be provided with their knowledge organiser that gives children all of the essential knowledge they must have to deepen their understanding in school.
