My name is Mr Crookes and I am the Year Three teacher. Mrs Rawson and Mrs Land are our teaching assistant and will be working with individuals and groups of children throughout the year.
Reading!
In Year Three we love to read! We start each daily with a reading session, where we build and deepen our understanding of different content domains. Reading with your child as often as possible is very beneficial. Your child will have the opportunity to change their books in school whenever they finish a book and bring in their signed reading records.
P.E.
The children will be doing PE on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. For health and safety reasons, your child should not wear jewellery on these days, especially earrings. Due to weather, PE lessons may be indoors or outdoors and this can change regularly. Please ensure children have appropriate clothing for both, including trainers.
Homework
Each Monday, the weekly spelling patterns that are set out on the half-term spelling list will be tested in class and scores will be sent home that week. We will also test times table knowledge each week and the scores for this test, along with times table to learn for the next week will be included on the same slip as spelling scores.
There is also an expectation that children read daily and practice their times tables on a daily basis. To facilitate this each child has access to Times Table Rock Stars via their own unique login.
In the wider curriculum, your child will be provided with a knowledge organiser for each unit of our Learning Journey that gives children all of the essential knowledge they must have to deepen their understanding in school.
